Skobel’s school uniforms is a chain of retail stores in New Orleans, Louisiana carrying a variety of ready-made & customized school wear for boys & girls. They choose Odoo to replace their existant PoS system which was lacking advanced Inventory features.
I joined the project 2 months after they have started developing extensions to the Odoo PoS in order to be able to process orders that require different custom services (embroidery, alterations, etc.). They were having a problem with finding an approach to handle printing labels at the PoS for the tracking of the custom orders. I suggested we go with a solution that will use the IoTBox (former PoSBox) and add support for it to work with Zebra printers. By utilizing CUPS and modules from the OCA/report-print-send project which build on top of it, we were able to implement a system that enables designing and printing of high quality labels in native ZPL (raw) format through the IoTBox. In the recent IoTBox images, CUPS is included and Odoo Enterprise modules use the same approach for prinitning product labels.
Since then we are continualy improving and adding features to cover more of the business activities and make them more efficient. Some of the improvements we made are:
- Advanced invetory and sales reporting
- In-store automated order pickup and processing
- Inventory adjustements using handheld scanner devices
